Default WANTED - Socket A CPU (266fsb) + Memory on the *Cheap* !!

hey Guys... It's pretty much going to be the same question again (for those of you that remember my old thread)!!

I have a Case, PSU and Motherboard with Graphics...

I need another *cheap* socket 266fsb (Athlon or Duron... Doesn't really matter... as long as it will run XP or 2000) CPU and maybe a stick of *cheap* RAM...

Anyone got anything they can sell cheap at all??

Cheers

Chris

None here, but cheapest I've found online is around £50 for a CPU + 256 Ram.

You might be able to pick something up from ebay if no-one here has one, probably quite cheap now too.

Good luck

All of the cheap ones on eBay are untested... and thats a bit risky... Untested or broken!? i know which would attract more bids.

Athlon 2000's go for £30+ it's ridiculous (if advertised as working)...

I'm looking for something like what i got in my original thread... Flops sold me an Applebred Duron 1.4 (which runs at a constant 2.01Ghz now) and 256Mb RAM for i think £30 or so!

Not looking for anything amazing, just want this PC to work

I guess no-one has anything so i may have to go brand new...

Cheers Ian thats some of the cheapest prices so far

Crikey - even Athlon 1800's are going for more than 30 quid! Outrageous.

30 pounds is about 53 dollars now. I wished I coverted my dollars to pounds a long time ago before the dollar devalued.

I have a socket A, 900MHZ AMD Duron that works. I replaced it with a 1.8GHZ chip.
Its in a anti-static bag in a metal box now.

Is it a DDR mother board.

Will SDRAM PC100 sticks work I have a few of those also in anti-static bag. I dont remeber the stick size.
Mothers that use PC133 will work with PC100 backwards compatible.

Have a look here Chris don’t forget Socket A are getting very rare these days in the last 6 mths stock has dropped from 50+ to 13, to buy one from ebay is ludicrous [unchecked????]

Its an Asus A7N-VM266 or something like that - so it came with PC2100 memory originally, which is DDR... 266MHz...
