Default Sony Vaio PCG-FX401


Vaio PCG-FX401 (mobile Duran 800)
Any one aware what max cpu I might be able to try in this?
(No games just Office, allready upped memory to 256mb)
Just trying to get more grunt, dont wish to buy a new laptop at this stage)
I cannot find any info on Sony site

Hi MrGrumpy

If you don't mind my asking, why do you want to overclock that Duron
800? Overclocking is not really something I'd recommend.

I did'nt want to overclock, I was looking at upgrading cpu.

Ok, I see. If you're looking for a better CPU, you may also want to
consider upgrading the RAM. The CPU and RAM are usually the culprits
when it comes to slow performance.

AMD is stingy with the datasheets, and not all Mobile devices have
publically available datasheets like this one:

I'm not at all sure about where in time this list of processors
fits in. At least this list will give you some idea of the
variety of processors available, and the need to ask a lot
of questions before buying anything. This list was probably not
meant for public consumption.

the top as well, so you can see how involved the disassembly
procedure is.
