Default What your security

Have seen a post and a poll about virus checkers, what about overall computer security - Heres a list of my defenses

Avast Anti virus
Zonealarm Firewall (used to be kerio till norton took over sygate and kerio firewalls)
Microsoft Antispy
Spyware Blaster
Spyware Doctor
Adaware & plus nail plug-in (VX2)
Search & Destroy
Ewido Security Suite
A Squared
MVPS Host file
IESPYAD
Opera Browser (non active x)
Google Toolbar
HiJack This
I also run CCleaner to clear out the crap out now and again...

May seem a bit overboard but I was in training as a HJT remover and used to use work on other security forums till very recently anylizing logs so I had to use a lot of the tools so that I could also advise other other users how to use them ! I also have other tools wich I do not need to run nowadays such as special diagnostic tools such as silent runners, killbox, CWS shredder etc and other bit and bobs. Had to regretfully give it up the HJT work due to the simple factor of lack of time, with having a family of 4 (one only 3 weeks old ) and working full time, time is very limited and valuable here !

Talking

Here is my list ...

Linux
Firewall

... end of list.

Not to water down your post and not meant as a joke, but, that is all I need.

I have hyped on and on about the necessity's of using more than one line of defence when 'browsing' the Internet. Some take advice, others ignore and some just don't care.

We have our 'favourites' for individual programs, but what it all boils down to is how many you need.

MS, Norton (2006) and a few other major security vendors are finally producing products to 'help' in warding off 'attacks' off the net from ALL angles ... but it comes at a cost.

I never can understand why people would rather use a '****ty' free program than buy a well established well renowned product.

A first line of defence is a Firewall. Amazing how many people still do not use one.

Good post Breadcake ... nice to see someone else pounding out the message.

Hi

On my lappy and PC, I use:

Norton
Spywareblaster
MS Antispy
CC Cleaner
Reg Cleaner
Webroot Spysweeper
Adaware

My beauties run well now that I have the above, updated regularly and regular scans as well plus SP2.

Just added a-squared.

Have been aware of this software for some time now, positive things said about it, so I installed.

Ran a scan, 41 malware items found.

Then ran AdAwareSE and that found 39 items, albeit all of them cookies.

I guess everything helps
