Question IE6 won't connect to Internet while other browsers will

IE6 won't connect to Internet while other browsers will.
The program just hangs. Nothing shows up on the address
bar, the page, or the progress bar. When you go to IE
properties, it is very slow to respond.

OS: Windows 2000 Server
Steps tried:
Gets IP address
Can ping WAN IP addresses and domains
Installed other browsers (Opera and Netscape), these work
without problems
Installed and ran SpyBot and AdAware, fixed problems it found but IE6 still not working.

Can anybody help with next step??

Do you have IE set up to use any proxies? Also, what settings do you have under Tools > Intenet Options > Connections?
