I did two successful scans with this program and now everytime I try to do
one, the system freezes up and crashes. Is it something with my computer or the program? Does anyone know? |

Have you tried these operations running in safe mÂșde?
1) Update both Microsoft Antispyware and your antivirus applicÂȘtion. 2B)Shut down the computer and turn off the power. Wait for at least 30 seconds, and then restart the computer in Safe mode or VGA mÂșde. Empty your IE cache and your other temporary file folders, eg: c:\temp, c:\windows\temp or C:\Documents and Settings\<name>\Local Settings\Temp (the path to your temp folder will change depending on your name) - sometimes programmes can be hidden in there - watch out for mysterious *.exe files or *.dll files in those fÂșlders. http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm 3) Do full deep scans with Microsoft Antispyware. Repeat scanning until a complete scan comes through clean. Ditto with the ÂȘntivirus. This isn't guaranteed, but it works for a great many items that at first appear not to be cleaned in normal mÂșde. Let us know how it works Âșut. .. Download the following and run a thorough scan in safe mÂșde: NOTE: Make certain to update every app before booting into Safe Mode since you WILL NOT have access to the Internet from Safe MÂșde. Ad-Aware - http://www.lavasoftusa.com http://hem.bredband.net/b288305/lav...quick_start.htm Spybot S&D - http://www.safer-networking.org/ http://net-integration.net/index.html Make certain to not to select any of the pernament protection for Spybot and DO NOT immunize the system, as this can interfere with MSAS' Real-tme ProtectiÂșn. CWShredder - http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html Spy Sweeper - http://www.webroot.com Ccleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com Also check windows updates to make sure you have the latest security patches and service packs instÂȘlled : http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ Engel |

I agree with Engel's suggetion to use either Ad-Aware or Spybot, or
preferably both to scan your system. If your system is crashing when scanning the registry this is likely due to some spyware removing the security of some registry keys. When MSAS reasches these keys, it loops indefinately, comsuming more and more RAM, until the system crashes. The other apps aren't affected by this problem, and when Beta 2 is released, likely sometime later this year, this problem should be fixed. You might not have to scan your system in Safe Mode with the other apps. Once the registry has been scanned by the one or both of the other apps, MSAS should work fine when you scan the system.
