This is a book review I wrote about a book that I feel is excellent for anyone new to Linux that thinks Linux is "too hard". I originally posted it here: http://www.usalug.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5093 but thought you folks might find it useful as well.

Thanks for the review.
How much depth does this book go into in installaling new programs? I find that's what new comers, and sometimes even I, mostly struggle with. Having to use the command line and manually set up shortcuts is a far departure from the windows click-next-till-it's-in-the-start-menu style.

It goes into pretty good detail as far as installing programs. Although, believe it or not, installing 99% of the programs is about as easy as opening a terminal window (Xterm, Eterm,Aterm,Konsole) and simply as root typing in
apt-get install PROGRAMNAME pretty simple ![]() |
