After inserting a Dvd disk in my DVD-CD ROM drive I get a message to please
insert disk into drive. My computer is a Micron Millennia RS 3000, but I upgraded to XP Pro. When using a regular CD I have no problem withe the video or audio. Is there anything you can suggest I do to take care of this problem? Thank you. etrudell @ comcast.net |

1. Open XP's "Help and Support Center"
2. Type DVD in the search box, hit enter. 3. Click on "DVD Troubleshooter". 4. You probably need a new DVD decoder or reinstall the one you had if it's Windows XP compatible. You might try this option if all else fails, download cdgone.zip and backup
your registry to be safe, (read the readme file) merge the cdgone.reg (right click, merge) file to the registry and reboot the computer. This action can clear up the problems in the registry as relates to cd/dvd devices, though you will also have to reinstall any third party cd/dvd related burning apps etc.. if they are required or needed, it's your choice.. http://aumha.net/downloads/cdgone.zip Read up here.. http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.php The last resort would be to update the firmware for the drive itself.. j;-j "etrudell" wrote: > After inserting a Dvd disk in my DVD-CD ROM drive I get a message to please > insert disk into drive. > My computer is a Micron Millennia RS 3000, but I upgraded to XP Pro. > When using a regular CD I have no problem withe the video or audio. > Is there anything you can suggest I do to take care of this problem? > Thank you. etrudell @ comcast.net > > > |

Thank you for your reply.Tried your suggestion and installed a new DVD
decoder. Still got the message insert CD in drive. Inserter a new blank DVD and got the same results. Apparently the drive cannot read the DVC CD. Sounds like the laser has died and gone to laser heaven. Time to get a new
DVD drive. Definitely consider a DVD burner, even if you don't plan on burning DVD Video disks, they are great for backing up files as DVD data disks. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging "etrudell" <etrudelle@comcast.net> wrote in message news:efDnCPayFHA.3236@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... > Thank you for your reply.Tried your suggestion and installed a new DVD > decoder. Do you have a DVD/CD-RW combo drive? Have you updated your burning software
lately..Trying to read a blank DVD-/+R/RW disk in a DVD/CD-ROM player will not work unless data has been previously burned to the media you are trying to use.. Do commercial CD/DVD's work in the drive? Before you toss the drive out, if all else has failed, you may be able to update the drives firmware.. Use the Nero infotool to id the drive string and firmware version.. http://www.iomagic.com/Firmware/Ner...roinfotool.html Your drives make and model #, id string, FW ver are key to identifying any available firmware updates.. j;-j "etrudell" wrote: > Thank you for your reply.Tried your suggestion and installed a new DVD > decoder.
