mail merge problems

I have a problem. I recieve a download from someone containing names,
address, etc. but when I try to mail merge and rename my source from the
excel viewer copy it wont let me rename it or use it?

Thus I cant use it in my letters on a mail merge. I only have the Microsoft
works. What am I doing wrong or how can I get the excel to mail merge??
