Hi Ron,
Thank you for posting here! I'm really sorry that it takes so long time for us to respond to you in this thread, due to our internal server synchronization issue. We apologize for any inconvenience that the issue has caused. Please rest assured that we are always here and try our best to help you solve the issue. Bill is right, that when a subfolder contains an unread email, the parent folder will not become bold. However, we can create an Unread mail search folder and include all subfolders (thanks to Diane's sharing). In this way, all unread emails, including those moved into the subfolders will be shown in this search folder. To do this, please use the following steps (I assume you are using Outlook 2003): 1. Locate your mailbox or the .pst file where those subfolders locate. 2. Right click Search folders -> New search folder. 3. Select Unread mail and click OK. 4. Right click the Unread mail folder -> Customize this search folder. 5. Click the Browse button and select all the check boxes in front of the subfolders you want to include. 6. Then we can move this search folder into the Favorite folders. As an alternative, you may also consider add the action "display a specific message in the New Item Alert window" into each of the rule that you create to move certain messages into subfolders. After we apply this rule, a dialog will prompt when a new message which meet the rule conditions comes in and we can select whether open it or not. Hope this addresses your concerns. If you have further questions or concerns, feel free to let me know. Have a good day!
