Default hp scanjet 8250 - settings

I have a new hp scanjet 8250. It seems to work really well, exect for 1
major problem. If I do the following:

1. Load pages in the Auto Doc feeder
2. Open Adobe Acrobat (full version, not the reader)
3. Tell Acrobat to import pages from the scanner

The scanner starts warming up and automatically starts scanning. It
does not allow me to adjust setting first; such as color depth,
resolution, etc. If I hurry and make a few adjustments while the
scanner is warming up, some are automatically overriden and set to what
the scanner seems to think is appropriate.

Does anyone else's HP do the same thing? If so, has anyone solved this?

Maybe you need to run the Scanner Setup Wizard in Adobe Acrobat.

A couple things come to mind:

1. While scanning directly into Acrobat Standard or Pro, what's
displayed in the device plugin window as the device? Are there any
other options other than no device?

if not, and you definitely installed the hp supplied twain drivers,
then try the following:

2. does the same thing occur when using another twain compliant
application ? ( like MS word)?

if so, doublecheck your hp twain settings

if not, check your acrobat configuration

hope it helps...
