I'm getting tired of my Visioneer 9450 USB scanner's predeliction for
paper jams when scanning a stack of documents. What would be a good replacement without spending more than $1,000.00 (if possible)? I'm not interested in scanning photos or in image editing. I have an adequate flat-bed scanner for items that can't be fed throught the ADF. I'm mostly interested in reliability -- no paper jams -- at a reasonable cost. Image quality need only be good enough for archiving text documents and some OCR. Recommendations? |

take a look at the fujitsu ScanSnap fi-5110EOX2. go to fcpa.com to get
the specs on the scanner. Great ADF scanner, w/a small footprint, usb 2, duplex (on a single pass through the ADF ) , content-based deskew, ocr with Abbyy findreader, acrobat 7.0 standard, 25 pages/Minute ADF scanning / 600dpi true optical resolution... you could buy one for less than half your budget. |

Do you have actual experience with one?

yes, extensive.. I've been working at fujitsu for over 4 years now.
I personally own a fi-4120c and a Scanpartner 93gx. One thing about my previous posting: 15ppm - 25ppm would be the fi-4120c2 if you ever have any questions, you can email me at dha@fcpa.fujitsu.com. or call me at 408-746-7096 I could even show you a live demo of the product via webcam if you'd like. |

1. Would you expect the fuji to be more reliable than a Visioneer 9450
USB with regard to the ADF? My 9450 has a bad habit of picking up more than 1 page at a time and then jamming. Twisting the paper is another bad feature. I want to be able to put in a stack of whatever the scanner serves (e.g., 25 or 50 pages), start the scan, and then walk away knowing that the pages will be properly scanned in a reasonable period of time without a jam stopping the process. 2. I now use PaperPort 9 Deluxe. The Fuji does not come with PP. What are the implications of using Fuji's software instead? Does it save as PDF? Can I still use the PP? How does Fuji's software stand up against PP? Etc. |
