Default Share Printer to another domain..

Hi,

I have two domain controllers ServerA and ServerB in the same subnet,
DomainA and DomainB.

I have established two-was trusts between the domains.

I have installed PrinterA from DomainA in ServerB and the test page prints
nicely. However I need to share PrinterA to ServerB/DomainB's users but the
share properties are grayed out.

Probably I need to open this printer in ServerA and allow DomainB/ServerB
users rights to print with it. How do I do this?

regards

tor

If this is a connection to ServerA, sharing a connection is not supported.

So even when I can install the printer on ServerB and it prints the test
page nicely from this server, it cannot be shared?

Any other way DomainB users can have access to and use this printer...?

Yes create a local printer on Server B that prints directly to the Domain A
print device. The printer does not care what domain it is in or who prints
to it. Unless the printer is not physically available to Server B, this is
your best solution.

OK, thanks for that tip - and there will be no conflicts with simultaneous
print jobs from both servers etc...?

typically not. The nics are designed for peer to peer where many local
clients connect directly to the same device. If you have really old (8
years) HP network cards upgrade the firmware but any of the new cards work
great.

An alternative to Alan's suggestion may be to merely have the DomainB's
users "connect" to PrinterA on ServerA. Since you have a two way trust
between the domains, you can grant user accounts (or groups) from DomainB
permission to use resources on DomainA (including folder and printer
shares). That's what "trusts" are for.

It is perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
