My website was created and maintained by a good friend of mine. She was
unfortunately overtaken by cancer, and passed away so quickly, we had no time to deal with my website. She used FrontPage2000. I have purchased and installed FrontPage2003. I have my website on local and remote websites, and have a backup cd made. I'm in the process of trying to learn the program. Books, help, search, etc. No one in our surrounding area is familiar with FP to help get me started. I am trying to update just a few things on the site, so it will not be so outdated. She had a ticker (marquee) on the home page that I wanted to change, as well as remove her name and contact info regarding the website. However, I have changed these, and saved them. When I am in remote website, it shows the saved changes. But, when I try to publish the page with the changes, the following message appears: Some items have changed on both the local and remote websites and are in conflict. My choices are: Ignoring will leave these files untouched, Overwriting will cause these files to be replaced on the destination site. canceling will cause the publishing process to be stopped and the files in conflict will be displayed. Although I am familiar with computers, I am new to website publishing, so, I always cancel out. What comes up as conflicts are .gif files (pictures and background) She used a template with themes. Can anyone tell me, step by step in simple terms what I need to do, to change just these two things until I can become more familiar with this program and it's abilities? I have spent many hours (weeks) reading and searching, and just can't seem to figure it out by myself. the site is www.away2mefarm.com Thank you in advance |

Sir,
It says on my local, and my remote websites it comes up with the files in conflict. What do I do to get past this? When I clicked on Publish this site, that is what came up. Given the situation, most likely the web on the server is the most current
and what you want to Publish back to your harddrive. Open FP File | Open Web/Site enter the http://yourwebname.com File | Publish Web/Site enter the location on your local machine where you store your Web/Sites make sure you do a full publish (not just changed pages) I recommend that you publish to a new location on your harddrive instead of overwritting the one you've alread tried to publish to. Make whatever changes you want on your local copy then Publish back to the server...this time you can use Changed Pages. Only if you are completely sure that you want to. Then Open FP and open the
web you want to delete...in Folder List select the root (topmost listing of that web) and Delete.
