Default Problems with MM2 crashing

I've been through PapaJohn's pages and through another forum and can't seem
to pinpoint my problem.

'had no problem working with Movie Maker up until I connected my laptop to
my newly purchased MiniDV Camcorder. All I'm trying to do at this point is
capture recorded video from my camera.

I had seen PapaJohn's pages mention divxaf.ax and I don't see that in the
list of codecs within MM2's Options page nor can I figure out if I've got
that anyplace else on my machine. I DID disable the other codecs there
randomly to see if that'd help matters....but it didn't.

I've got plenty of resources (1.5 gig of Ram and plenty of free space).

Any ideas would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.

After trying different settings I was finally able to get it to work
satisfactorily using DV-AVI (NTSC) setting.

I'm curious though, is it normal for folks to not be able to use the other
settings? such as: High Quality Video (NTSC) ??
