Hello,
I am trying to install Microsoft AntiSpyware in Safe Mode on Windows XP. This is a part of a batch file that I have created to clean out a system of spyware when it's to far gone to do the cleaning in standard Windows or if Windows will not boot into anything but safe mode. I want it to install silently, scan silently, and uninstall silently. I am using other scans such as SpyBot, Ad-Aware, Hijack This, and SpySweeper, and I have gotten them to work in this environment without any problems. However, I seem to be getting a snag with the Microsoft AntiSpyware and the Windows Installer Service / MSIServer (msiexec.exe). Silent Install command: MicrosoftAntiSpywareInstall.exe /s /v /qn Silent Scan command: GIANTAntiSpywareMain.exe -scan Silent Uninstall command: MsiExec.exe /X{536F7C74-844B-4683-B0C5-EA39E19A6FE3} /Q When I go to install it cannot because the Windows Installer service is not running. To alleviate this I did a "net start MSIServer", however, this service cannot be started in safe mode. This silent install working in standard Windows but I need it to run in safe mode for my purposes. Has anyone found a way around this or is there another way to get this to run. I have gotten other spyware programs to work doing this and I would prefer to get Microsoft AntiSpyware to run instead. Thank you, Damon |
