Default AntiSpyware services don't start in multi-user env.

Hello everybody,
I'm an admin of Novell NetWare-based network in education.
I'm experimenting with pushing MS AntiSpyware 1.0.615 to
users. I prepared an XP Pro workstation image containing
Antispyware installed by local administrator, then restored
it on another PC. The problem I experienced is that
real-time monitor services do not start for users logged
into the workstation (either source or target) . It is to
be noticed that those (local) user accounts are created
automatically by Novell ZenWorks Workstation Manager (have
not ben in place when I installed Antispyware as an
administrator). Does the Antispyware create any autostart
shortcuts to its services (gcas*.exe) in registry or in
startup folder? Is there a way to force those gcas services
to starup automatically for every local user ("Run" key,
AllUsers profile, or so)?

This is not recommended. The present release of Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta
1 is suitable only for single users of their own PCs who log in with
Administrator rights. It is not suitable for use in any MS domain or
Netware environment.

Hi Marek

Look at KB892375

Within microsoft.private.security.spyware.networking
you have some workarounds and network msi suggestions.

From your own country Polen you have this MVP
"Mikolaj" <nixtone@infojama.pl> real mail adress ?

Havent seen him for a while, vacation ? but I know he has some
working examples how to set up this MSAS Beta in a network
with different settings.

You have a limited user account running the application looking for spyware
on all files and folders. This includes the administrator account which
limited users may not be able to access. So we have to approach this
carefully in order to remove the spyware from all locations, but also
preserve file and folder permissions and access.

In short, we are addressing this for a future release, but it involves some
major coding and testing.

This article describes the process of creating own services:
