Default Optra S Marknet

I have an Optra S 1255 with the Marknet S network card installed. I've
successfully installed Lexmark drivers to print from Win 98 and from
Red Hat 9 using the parallel port. Now I'm trying to set up the
drivers to print over my home network thru the network card, and I
can't get it work, neither with Linux nor Win98.

I can connect to the Marknet webserver and bring down the printer's
configuration page. I can also use the finger command to get printer
information. And I can ping the printer, too. So that much of the
TCP/IP networking is OK.

In Win98, I go to Control Panel -> Printers -> Lexmark Optra S 1255 and
right click properties. I click on the Details tab, then Add Port. I
select the Other button, then Lexmark Network Printer Monitor, then OK.
I get the "Add Lexmark Network Port", select Manage Print Server List
and tell it to search my network. After it finds the printer, I enter
a logical name, highlight the printer, and click OK. After about 10
seconds, I get a pop-up box with the messages: " Failed to Enumerate"
and "Failed to locate the printer you specified".

Has anyone else experienced this, or have any suggestions?

thanks,

Tom

Win 98 is pure **** for networking, try something slightly less
obsolete, Hell, Win 2000 officially ceased to have any support
yesterday.
