We bought a PIXMA 3000. The paper feed (upper paper supplier) grabs the
paper on one side and crumples it as it goes into/through the printer. Cassette feeder works fine. Also, a photo printed with this machine comes out with horizontal lines across it. We are obviously going to return it, but I would like to know if we just got a lemon, and a replacement will work fine, or should we look for a different printer? Have been extremely happy with the old Canon i850, but it suddenly refuses to print black, and deep cleaning didn't solve the problem. TIA Rosemary -- To e-mail me remove the obvious before @ and change sinuswave to sinewave. |

A "must read" for printer maintenance with clogged head
problems -http://www.neilslade.com/papers/inkjetstuff.html for all things canon. Did these problems occur immediately with a new printer just out of the box? Feed problems that you have described can sometimes happen if a small piece of paper gets stuck on one side of the feed mechanism or if a foreign object falls in to the area. You may also have a defective feed mechanism, and Canon will replace the printer if you are still under warranty. If the horizontal lines are at the trailing end (about 1/2 inch from the edge) of a borderless print you may have a slight curve in the paper that can cause this problem. Always store your photo paper flat, not in the printer, between print jobs, as leaving the paper in the feed area induces a slight curve. If it is throughout the print you either have a clog or defective cartridge. If your printing is sporadic you can get head clogs in any inkjet printer. The i850 is a good printer and you should be able to return it to service with Neil Slades info if all you have is a head clog. I would suspect your particular unit is damaged in some way and requires service or exchange. |
