Default vantec nexus nxp-101

got one of these and it is totally bust, cant return because i lost some
stuff from the box and threw away the original packaging in over confidence
it would work first time

when i plug a usb cable into the front.. i get sparks, literally i get a
small light spark when i plug a external device into the ports here, is this
dangerous?

the usb ports dont seem to work either

either does the fan controller and the alarm goes off non stop

not having a good experience with vantec, got a fan controller and it doesnt
seem to work with the stealth fans, and the LED's have died, i again threw
out original packaging and supplier wont allow return, cant RMA to vantec as
they do not work outside of USA/canada

bummer huh?

about the usb thing though, is it dangerous? should i take the panel out and
inspect?

None of which is required if you wanted to get an RMA to get it returned
for them to check if it is broken.

They don't provide manuals online so I cannot tell if they use a
polarized plug or even if your motherboard provided a polarized plug.
Most mobos just have a header strip of 4 pins and it is up to YOU to
know what wire to connect to which pin. Sounds like you have ground
and/or voltages mixed up (i.e., you wired it up wrong). It is possible
there is a short somewhere within the product so if a wiring check
doesn't show up the problem then RMA the product
(http://www.vantecusa.com/rmacenter.html).
