I might be missing something here, but why do motherboard manufacturers put
SATA drivers on CD's when XP needs you to insert a FLOPPY!!!!! Its all very well if you have a second PC to copy the driver to a floppy, but what if you dont? Or am I missing something??? -Al PS: Is XP shipping with SP2 preinstalled yet? Does this have hative SATA support? -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =----- |

Then you're stuffed - it's a major issue IMO and the reason why I run all my system drives on IDE. I haven't had a floppy in a PC for over 4 years. I do find my USB floppy useful on these annoying occasions though ![]() Good luck with the SATA loading I found that on one board I tried using a SATA off a VIA controller, after installing SP2 the machine would hang and there was no fix for it ![]() Latest SATA drivers used - no joy. Will run this without SP2 until new drivers come out. |

Could it be that wogor the troll has been faking all this time? But, has anyone else noticed the similarity between wogor and Harry? Hmmmm, food for thought.......... |

And um, everyone knows SATA requires that whole "press f6 to install whatever" in the xp setup. Especially if you spend time in here. |

I had trouble getting my system to read from the new floppy I put in my new system and wasn't able to get the Sata drivers installed during setup. Slipstreaming the drivers into an XP install disc worked a charm. Willi |

The shame is that they only give one chance to provide the driver... seems like when that error comes up during a boot it could just display a boot menu prompting for the HDD location or to select a driver medium. |
