Help- projector question...

Curious-
Is there a major difference when using a projector to output a photo
slideshow....

I have a regular video cable (RCA both ends) - it's a one time presentation
for a party...

Is there THAT much of a difference for me to get a monitor cable and use the
monitor output of my laptop to the monitor input of the projector?
