Default 800dpi mouse

I just bought an 800dpi optical mouse (USB) but I cannot tell the
different between a high and a low dpi (200dpi ?) mouse.

How do I benefit from this high dpi mouse (in which software) ?
TIA.

It'll have more precision, able to discriminate better between each
fraction of a movement, particularly if you set it to move relatively fast
in the driver or actually do move it relatively fast. Some of the older
400DPI opticals would randomly jump the cursor all over the screen with
any rapid movement, like in FPS games.
