Default motherboard or something else???

Hey all...

I am having one really strange problem. So I have installed a new celeron
1.7Ghz on Asus P4B connected all well clicked computer to start and
nothing...cooler is running (on cpu and on power supply), but no bios sounds
or something which could tell me what's wrong. Green led on case is on, and
red one is flashing continously. CD rom led is also acting as red (ide) led.

I tried all what I have remembered can any one tell me what to do next???

Thanks
Milan

Pull power cord out of the system and then find and use the,"Clear
Cmos" jumper. You cannot fully clear the CMOS on an ATX powered system
with power to the board.Any old incorrect BIOS settings may be
preventing P.O.S.T.

Some mother boards require the CPU fan wire to be on a specific mother
board header/socket?
Usually number 1.
If not the system detects this and prevents P.O.S.T to protect the
CPU.

Try unpluggin all the EIDE cables in the system and see if it posts,
sometimes conflicts can prevent posting.

I have unpluged all cables except cpu fan, power and LED wires and again
there is a same problem. I have replaced a bios battery but no luck. I have
pulled motherboard out of the case but nothing better happened.

Any other ideas?

Milan

Have you tried pulling the CPU out of the soocket and reseating it? Also
checking to see if the CPU heatsink is firmly and properly attached? The
heatsink *CAN* be installed backwards and this has prevented post in the
past. If you can I would try another CPU that you know is good and see if
it has the same problem.

Try taking the board out of the system and see if it powers up.It may
be shorting to ground e.g the case?

yes, I did it...but again zero points...now my computer looks like
this...motherboard is on carpet connected with power supply and with led's
from case. On motherboard is just cpu. I have tried to play with jumpers and
then I got my motherboard to talk It said that there is CPU failure test
(something like that). When I set i on jumper free mode everything went back
on sound of fans and light show with led's...
I did CLRCMOS couple times again but nothing. Is this problem just good for
taking motherboard to store where it came from?

Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks
Milan
