ATX PSU Unknow Plug

Default ATX PSU Unknow Plug


I am building a PC, I have it all up and running but I have found
cable from the power supply which Black and White with a small plug
like the one on the CPU fan, I would like to know what it does and do
I need to use it.

Sounds like the PSU fan monitor cable, you plug it in to monitor the PSU fan
rpm speed, so no it is not necessary.

On motherboards that support it, it plugs into a fan header so the
motherboard can monitor fan speed for the powersupply fan.
