Is a temp of 41c / 105f ok for a Athlon XP 2400?

what can it go up to and be fine at?

Yes, that's fine, even pretty good if it's the full-load temp on less
than a high-end cooler. Running at spec'd speeds they're usually
stable past 60C, it's only when the motherboard reports the temps
wrong of if overclocking, that the upper limit becomes more
significant, lower.
