Sounds like you need to enable DMA.

Again, many thanks. On the post I see primary and slave as UDMA. Is
that it? Can't seem to find anything in BIOS about enabling DMA. I've
enabled DMA through Device Manager. When recording from now on, I'll
just leave the machine alone so as not to tax the processor.
