Correct. It was difficult to connect and there were several download pauses,
but I finally got it all (I think). There's always some doubt unless they tell the exact number of bytes in the download, at least, or preferably a MD5 checksum. -E "Jo" <rty@invalid.jp> wrote in message news:Xns959E2B330BFlSxxx@130.133.1.4... > "Zlika" <zlika_eseSTOPSPAM@hotmail.com> wrote in news:41927cbb$0 > $10791$8fcfb975@news.wanadoo.fr: > >> www.grisoft.com >> >> That's all! >> >> >> > > http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/1/ > > Is a better link. > > Standby for overload of Grisoft's sites, the download is nearly 10 > MB. > |

I don't use AVG Free Edition anymore, but from the instruction manuals
I read at grisoft.com it appears version 7 has more functionality. Just wondering if it slows down computers a bit more now. Are there more AVG items listed in MSCONFIG now? |

In fact, it has one better feature where you can have it automatically check the internet for updates when you use manual update and you do not have to choose "internet" each time. It is very nice for free. Chuck |

Two things are listed on my system as AVG services:
1) AVG7 Alert Manager Server 2) AVG7 Update Service "HistoryFan" <IreallyHATEspam@IreallyHATEspam.com> wrote in message news:bDJkd.143644$5v2.130397@fe2.columbus.rr.com... > I don't use AVG Free Edition anymore, but from the instruction manuals > I read at grisoft.com it appears version 7 has more functionality. Just installed new AVG 7 on WinXP Pro and now PC totally banjaxed after restarting PC. I can't get into safe mode to use system restore facility. keeps showing blue screen error stop notice. Holding Control and F8 won't work, also tried just holding F8 alone, neither works. Any help very urgently welcomed!! ;-( DW |

I looked on the AVG free forum and there is an issue related to Roxio
software. I think some people solved it by disabling or removing the Roxio software. Your symptoms weren't matched exactly, but some other people are having similar problems. The best general suggestion seems to be to press F8 when you restart your computer to get to the long list of startup options. Then choose the one which restores your last good registry. I don't remember the details offhand, but that's probably the way. Maybe someone else can fill in the details. Another possibly useful suggestion, when/if you are able to access your registry, and if you still have problems: Set the following value to repair the AVG installation using AVG setup, then reboot: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\cdudf_xp] "Start"=dword:00000004 -E "D.
