Default Ad-Aware 6.0 Personal, Build 6.181

I know that Ad-Aware isn't strictly considered an anti-virus program, but I
hope I'll be able to get some help here.

Some days ago, whilst updating to the latest Ad-Aware reference file, my
system crashed. I now obviously have a corrupt reference file, as I get the
following message when i start the program:

'Error while loading the Ad-Aware reference file'

If I attempt to update it, the process will go no further than 5%. Can
anyone advise me on how to remove the corrupt reference file, or is the only
solution to fully un-install / re-install?

TIA

Support and updates for 6.181 was discontinued. The last REFLIST
is R347 from 10/26, AFAIK.

It's no clear how you update - try d/l the .zip and install it
by hand:
http://www.lavasoft.de/update/refs/reflist.zip

Unzip it into ad-aware's directory (folder).

Uninstall and reinstall won't take too long, so do it. Should sort your
problem out.

There's a new version of Ad-Aware - SE Personal 1.05.

Download it and either uninstall the old version or install the update
which will also uninstall the old version.

Hi
I have experienced this problem with more than one release. might be
related to not being 'online' when the first attempt to 'update' took
place.

Fortunately, uninstall works well....as does the follow up reinstall..

HTH.
