Default Anti-Virus Question

Can someone tell me if Norton Anti-Virus is reliable, as I have had to clear
324 viruses from my drive.

Regards

Gordon

If you were using Norton and got that many, then I guess you have your
answer......if not, there are many others that are way better than Norton.
EZ Trust, NOD, etc.

For all it's faults, I can't see Norton missing that many viruses. Are your
definition files up to date?

I'm not a Symantec fan, but I find it hard to believe one of the best
selling AV products in the world missed that many.

Maybe he doesn't mean 384 instances of different viruses. Assuming we
are talking about replication here, it could be 384 instances of the
same one.

Do you mean:
(a) you have 324 files infected with 1 virus
(b) you have 324 different viruses on your computer

If (b), you need to change your computing habits!

1 - If NAV was not reliable then Peter Norton would have been out of
business years ago.
2 - I would suspect your AV library updates are not upto date. Please update
and rescan and schedule your updates to occur at least once an hour

Hi,
Gordon, were you updating your definitions? I just had Norton 2003
installed on my PC (the tech guy I hired to take Bagle virus off my computer
put it on) I'm having trouble trying to update the def. I shut Zone Alarm
off, and it seemed to be updated, so it said yesterday. When I turned on my
PC this morning I get a pop-up saying that my def. were out of date.....I
don't understand this darn NAV and I hate how it's slowed down my
PC.....Didn't mean to rabble on, but I wish I had AVG back on....Good
Luck....Nel

Folks

Yes there where replications, not all though. I am now virus free, but I am
still worried.
