Default univ.worm help PLEASE

Hi all,

I was hit by a Univ.Worm recently. and I tried to do some reasearch
on it on Google, Webcrawler and Lycos but they turned up nothing
useful. I also tried Mcafee, Symantec, and Panda with no results.
does anyone have anyinfo on this particular worm.

TIA Lex

If that is the name your antivirus software gave ... go to your antivirus
software site and look it up. What antivirus software do you use? Was
"univ.worm" the full name? How do you know you have the worm?

McAfee produces the univ.worm alert generically as you can see here:

http://www.virusbtn.com/resources/v...duct=0&offset=0

The alert doesn't specify any particular malware, and it can easily be
a false alert. When you say you were "hit", what exactly do you mean?
What makes you think your PC is infected? Do have file samples that
can be checked by other av scanners to try and determine whether or
not McAfee is false alarming? What do other av scanners say?

What happened was my NAV 2003 popped a window up saying it found
univ.worm. then began deleting files instead of quarantining. I
tried to stop the process but would't let me. so i just rebooted the
system. when i did that all the files (i.e. all MS apps , as well as
all word/excel docs on my system) were deleted. so i had to reinstall
my OS as i couldn't get it to find any programs it had removed. I
tried reinstalling the progs before installing the OS but the didn't
work correctly. i hope this explains a little more.

Thanks
