Unless the participants are going to sign photos from the event, why are you

Considering this has absolutely nothing to do with autograph collecting,
I'll keep this off topic short and sweet. Mr. Agoado: 1) How am I supposed to answer this when you have erased all of the posting information. I have no idea when I posted this message that you have quoted, so I have nothing to compare the virus update date with. 2) My virus scanner is updated every 3 days (or when emergency updates have been released. 3) What crawled up your nether regions to begin with? You're not even using any type of virus scanner that we can determine. Are you someone that transmits the viruses and you are upset that I use a blocker? Talk about delusional... Talk about autograph collecting or go back to your troll hill. -- Mike Gummby3 "Leonard Agoado" <len@mwswire.com> wrote in message news:_G06c.26075$%06.7828@newsread2.news.pas.earthlink.net... > > "Gummby3" wrote: > > [snip] > > > Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. > > Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). > > Version: 6.0.598 / Virus Database: 380 - Release Date: > 2/28/2004 > > > Certified? You posted on 3/16 and AVG generated --
"--- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.598 / Virus Database: 380 - Release Date: 2/28/2004" Like Mr. Agoado said, its OLD. I am using McAfee VirusScan v7.1 ENGINE 4320 and DAT v4339 - can you tell ? No and that is the way it SHOULD be. If you had been in a.c.v and/or a.c.a-v for a while you would know that it has long been a contention that is is STUPID to certify email or UseNet posts as "virus free" beacase it is virtually impossible to certify "virus free." It those weeks that AVG had not been updated there has been a virtual war between the authors of Netsky and Bagle and almost daily, new variations are running rampanty around the Internet. Both are mass mailing worms. W32/Bagle@MM - http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_100965.htm W32/Netsky.a@MM - http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_101027.htm Now re-think what is "delusional". You "could have been" infected by W32/Bagle.p@MM and sent email as "Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free." when in reality your platform was infected. Food for thought... Again, this is off topic for the group and it is my final say on it.
1) I checked my settings and there had been a problem with it updating. I have fixed that. 2) If Mr. Agoado had simply sent a message stating "Hey, you might want to check your virus status" instead of coming across like a high and mighty jerk with a stick up his A**, then that would have been different. I would have been thankful for the insight and I would have looked into the problem. INSTEAD, he comes across with an unwarranted slam. 3) I did not create the virus scanner program that I use. It is set to scan my system and it sends the statement out with all messages that I post. No big deal. I have since scanned my system today with two different scanners and everything came up negative on viruses. No harm. No foul. >If you had been in a.c.v and/or a.c.a-v for a while you would > know that it has long been a contention that is is STUPID to certify email or UseNet posts > as "virus free" beacase it is virtually impossible to certify "virus free." 4) I honestly have no idea what you are talking about (ie "a.c.v and/or a.c.a-v") and resent being talked down to. This bozo comes in to an autograph collecting discussion board and slams me for no reason. 5) As for being safe, I normally use a backup scanner to check my system ever other day. I don't trust my system to a solo scanner. No single virus scanner is infalable. If someone is stupid enough to open an attachment from someone that they don't know, then they take their risks. As I stated, this is my final reply to this topic. No matter how backhanded the assistance was, I took it to heart and it is running smoothly again. I'll be more than happy to talk to either of you two gentlemen about autograph collecting, otherwise, I see no reason to be bothered with posts from you on this topic again. No, he didn't come into an autograph board. You haven't noticed all the groups this thread is cross-posted to. Peek at the headers and you will find: Newsgroups: alt.collecting.autographs,alt.comedy.standup,alt.comp.anti-virus,nl.support.stop-met-roken,nl.comp.virus He didn't "slam" you. Welcome to Usenet. In the anti-virus group, your sig is funny because it is meaningless, especially the old one from your last post. There is no way your mail or posts can be 'certified' virus free. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). "Gummby3" wrote: > Considering this has absolutely nothing > to do with autograph collecting, Well, I was responding to your post which appeared in alt.collecting.autographs alt.comedy.standup alt.comp.anti-virus nl.support.stop-met-roken nl.comp.virus That makes my post directly on-topic in at least two groups. More, if you regard viruses as an issue of general interest in the broader Usenet community. I will grant that your post could very well have been on-topic in alt.comedy.standup. Of course that's for you to determine since you designated the recipient groups of the message to which I replied. You do know to tell where you are posting, right? > How am I supposed to answer this when you > have erased all of the posting information. Huh? I have erased nothing. I simply did not reinterate the your entire message in my reply. Your original gem is still propagating through Usenet unimpeded. > I have no idea when I posted this message > that you have quoted, so I have nothing... Absent a meaningless assertion of certification, the boundaries of knowledge are not defined by what one can determine from a Usenet post. Also, to whom does "we" refer? Is this much posturing a two person project? Don't they monitor Internet access in the Junior High Library any more? > Are you someone that transmits the viruses > and you are upset that I use a blocker? LOL!
