Default Symantec-Verisign fiasco

Now that the Symantec-Verisign fiasco is over (it is over, isn't it?), who
is to blame for the incredible waste of time imposed on us users? I know I
spent one full day trying to track this problem down, and had I not done my
routine newsgroup perusing on the 8th I might still not know the cause.
Before that, I was blaming my router, as whenever any of my three computers
was unplugged from it the problem ceased. Thank heaven for the newsgroups.
