Default KB823980 Setup Error

Hi,

I've installed WinXP pro in my computer. English version.

The blaster is active. When I run the Microsoft Patch, the message
"Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the
Cryptographic service is running on this computer" appear.

This service is running and I've started it a lot of times. The safe mode is
not the answer for this. Even with command prompt.

What can I do to run this patch? How can I delete this worm?

Can you help me.

Thanks,

HF

Removing Blaster is a multiple step process.

What You Should Know About the Blaster Worm and Its Variants:

is it possible that you only have the basic cryptographic service
provider (giving you a whopping 40bits of encryption power in your
browser, if you want to diagnose this) but need something higher?

I have seen this on a few systems. Just out of curiousity, is your system a
Dell that came pre-loaded from the factory?

At any rate, try these steps and it should solve your problem:

Start-Run-cmd
net start cryptsvc
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
exit

Now reboot and try the patch again. This has worked for me on every
occasion. If it does not work, post here and I have a few other suggestions
that might help.
