I just got an x800 pro video card and a Dell 2001fp flat panel. From what I
have seen, I am supposed to run the flat panel at 60hz. My question is, won't that limit my fps to 60fps as well? Any advantage to running it at a higher mhz? Thanks, neon |

No and no.
Refresh rate doesn't have anything to do with frame rates and LCDs don't scan their info onto the panel either, so 60 Hz will work quite well. In fact, 60Hz is recommended by those in the know, like DisplayMate, to avoid synchronization difficulties. -- Todd |

If I turn up the refresh rate on my BenQ TFT the picture quality degrades
noticeably. -- Andi. TFT/LCD monitors are designed to run optimally at one native resolution and refresh rate. 60Hz is not a "bad" rate for an LCD. They don't flicker because they don't have a phosphor screen being swept top to bottom by an electron gun.If you run it at higher refresh rates or different resolutions, there will be clarity and image quality issues. |
