Tech supports have me doing this:

Swap video card from bad system to good system:

ran perfectly. 3dmark bench 18000.

Move hard drive from bad system to good system:

Came up fine, but 3dmark benched at 15500 ??
Removed Catalyst 4.10 and installed Cat 4.8.
Now benches at 18000 as with the other hdrive.
Cat 4.1 was probably corrupted on the bad system.

Tomorrow, I will reinstall WinXP ( and sp2 ) while this
hard drive is still on the good system. Then I will move
the drive back to the bad system, and run tests !!!!!
Note: this may prove that the WinXP install corrupted
on the bad system ... or if 3dmark2001 still fails, then
I'm looking STRAIGHT AT the new mobo, or the cpu
which was pronounced healthy from testing at AMD
tech support. Note: possibility of bad data cable ???
but which one ?? SATA, or IDE on the CD-drive ??

Do you have your FSB overclocked? Some hard drives don't play nice with
overclocked IDE controllers.
