Upgraded drivers; no TV

I was way behind on my ATI drivers and got tired of dealing with certain
minor annoyances, so I took a chance and upgraded. I started with the
Catalyst drivers; went from 3.7, I believe, to the latest 4.6. Used it for
a few days; looked good with all my apps. Then I went to MMC 9.1 and the
latest TV Wonder Pro drivers. I see the atitvtv.exe on my system, and have
TV as a choice on the start menu and in Launch Pad, but no matter what means
I use to try and start the TV application, nothing happens. For example, I
created a desktop shortcut to atitvtv.exe on my desktop; when I double-click
on it, nothing at all happens. I see no new active processes in Task
Manager. I've tried re-installing several times. Any clues? I didn't
see anything in Google Groups search.
I'm sure many people will say I should have let well enough alone, and maybe
should go back to my earlier configuration, but I'd really like to try and
make the new drivers work.
