Default overclock 9600's memory 128 vs 256?

I read somewhere the 256mb mem in 9600 cards doesn't overclock too well so
the 128mb version is the one to get? Is this too broad an assumption?
Of course there's also that old saying that no game uses <insert large
number>mb memory yet? How about doom 3?

Default Re: overclock 9600's memory 128 vs 256?

Depends on the luck of the draw, but with 256MB you have twice as many
memory chips to "not take well" to overclocking.

Try a utility that gradually ramps up the overclocking then thoroughly tests
it, then backs off as soon as it encounters errors, such as ATI Tool.
