Rage 128 Pro Ultra Gl problems

I've got a rage 128 pro ultra gl card, and directx 9.0b installed. I just
bought the game Freelancer and I can't read ANY of the text. I'm using the
driver that comes with windows XP because when I get the latest driver from
ATI's site, it tells me it's not compatable with my display adapter. Any
suggestions?

Your card is NOT rated for DX9. Only the 9000 series is.
