I have a system I am working on with a TV Wonder. After a few minutes of
watching TV the system will lockup. The motherboard is an Intel with SoundMax Digital Audio. The lockups are completely arbitrary. It will sometimes play for 30 minutes before locking up or it will not lockup until the TV channels are changed. The system also locks up with no cable TV connected to the card and watching fuzz. I am thinking this is a software problem but am open for suggestions. We have removed and updated drivers. -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =----- |

If you have a Pentium 4 with Hyperthreading, and are running Windows XP,
this is a known problem. Apparently you need a new stream.sys file from Microsoft. See Microsoft Knowledge Base article 817589: http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;817589 (btw - the article refers to the TV tuner feature of your "sound card", but it obviously meant "video card".) What version of stream.sys fixes this problem? I have loaded DirectX 9.0b
and service pack 1 on my XP machine and still have this problem. My version of stream.sys is 5.3.0.900. In 2K SP4 it works ok, but I have locks in XP SP1. I don't think it is the Soundmax. In my case I think it is the Hyperthreading ... and the ATI drivers. MS is supposedly working on a patch for the Hyperthreading problem that will be in SP2. Or you can contact them for the beta. I think this is one of these problems without a fix until ATI comes out with decent drivers and MS comes out with patches that actually do some good. >I have a system I am working on with a TV Wonder.
