Does anyone run their comp. solely on freeware programs. And what are they.
Am looking to do the same but don't know where to start, if anyone has any
info to share I would be much appreciated to you.

I dual boot with win98se and use mostly freeware in windows. However,
no Windows computer can be "all freeware" since the os is commercial.
Here's the freeware that I use on a regular basis:

Browser - kmeleon
Office suite - Open Office (though infrequently in Windows)
Firewall - kerio 3.15
Newsreader - Xnews
Email - Thunderbird
mp3 and streaming audio - XMPlay and QCD
File Manager - xplorer2, FMedit98, P3DO explorer
Anti Spyware - Adaware, Spybot
Email notification - Poptray
Time sync - neutron
RSS aggregator - Tristana
CD Burner - EAC, BurnAtOnce
Registry Cleaner - RegSeeker
Clipboard Utility - YCIII
Notepad - Editpad Lite
FTP - FTP Explorer
HTML editor - HTML Kit, (experimenting with Nvu)
Image Viewer - Irfanview
Image Manipulation - Photofiltre
Video - Real Alternative, Quick Time Alternative, Media Player Classic
File Eraser - Eraser
Zip Files - Ultimate Zip (freeware version) and Power Archiver (last
freeware version also)

I also use quick folders, WinPatrol, Cookie Master, EnditAll2,
EmptyTemp2, and TclockEx.

I routinely keep many other freeware programs with which to play and
experiment. I use a payware AV because I don't mess around with that.

I use win98se to play, Mandrake Linux to work.

========================
The only software I ever paid for was Norton System Works and donated $15
for mIRC in 1996. I don't think it's donateware anymore. Almost everything
else on my PC is freeware I learned about on this NG, or it came with my HP
PC or my Sony CDR/RW writer (Nero).
