For editing an uncompressed format is better. With MPEGs to make a cut
the editing system may have to track the frame-to-frame changes back
many frames.

Default vcr file format

Hi, can anyone recommend an editor for the *.vcr files produced with the AIW
ATI (version 8)?

I have tried using Premiere, but it does not like the file format.

TIA

The library application that comes with the Ati MMC says that it's able to
convert the .vcr files to Mpeg.......

I've tried using mpg2 files in Adobe Premiere, and it's painfully
slow because of the compressed video clips take a long time
to manipulate. I have lots of luck with AVI files, but lately my
ATI TV program records video to AVI with the first few seconds
of audio stuttering.

the problem however is that once you've recorded as vcr type, there seems to
be no going back... ATI used to have (according to their website) a separate
program which could open these type files and save them out as mpg, but it's
not in rev 8 of MMC...

You can still export to MPEG from MMC8.5
I also desire a simple cut & paste editor with the .VCR file
Is ATI working on it or never cosider one?
I guess a cut/paste utility is quite simple to make if you know its
internal format, ATI people do.
