What the feck is an "R6"

I know it's 32mb DDR. Is this a pre Radeon card or a codename for one?

I believe the R6 was the very first Radeon. I could be wron, though.

So is this like a radeon 7000 (earliest I know of) or like a pre-radeon.
There's very little on google except articles on the 'new' chipset. That's
why I thought it was some kind of proto-radeon rather than a Rage or some
such.

The original Radeon was the Radeon 256. The original chip was called
Rage6C which was then renamed the Radeon 256 when it came to market.
