Default HELP!! - System will not run POST with Athlon CPU

Got me stumped.

Soltek SL-75KAV mobo, F5 build, got current Q11 BIOS
According to maufacturers website, Q11 BIOs and F1 build upwards will
run up to XP2700

Duron 750 CPU
FSB set at 100mhz, multiplier and voltage set to auto
Runs happily.

Put in Athlon 1200C
Change FSB to 133mhz
Multiplier and voltage left at auto
Will not even run POST and switches off after about 10 seconds or so.
Gives the impression that it has overheated.

Put in XP2200
FSB set at 133mhz
Multiplier and voltage left at auto
Switches off after about 3 seconds as if it has detected that the CPU
fan is not working.

ANY IDEAS??

I certainly don't have any.

Very Frustrated - PC

Have you tried to see if it will boot with the FSB set to 100mhz?

Have you tried to see if it will boot with the FSB set to 100mhz?

Do this with the latter two chips and see if BOTH post under this
condition. Also, have you reset the BIOS to the defaults??

Tried the 100mhz trick and still get exactly the same result with both CPUs.

Any other thoughts?

And you've installed the heatsink with thermal paste each time you
switch CPUs?

Jumpered the motherboard to reset the BIOS to defaults each time?

Exactly as you suggested. Even got my son to check it with me to make
sure I didn't skip anything.

Can only think that it is some response to the 266FSB CPUs - even
running at 200FSB - as the Duron runs perfectly.

Can you get into the BIOS to see your CPU temps?

Sounds like a heat problem to me.

They can't POST...getting into BIOS is a non-issue. If you can't POST, you
ain't getting into CMOS.

Have you reset the BIOS to the defaults? You
have 2 choices, try F6 on the advanced page,
as that is the most conservative settings.

As a further thought, your problem has all the symptoms
of memory timing issues, which usually can be solved
by not using aggressive timings.
