??Unknown Connection Sharing??

A friend's computer has Unknown (Internet) Connection Sharing installed
and cannot be uninstalled or even disabled. I receive the msg that it is
either making a connection or is in the process of disconnecting. It
preventing the computer from connecting to the LAN and using the gateway to
the DSL modem for internet connection. A laptop on the same LAN (wireless)
does not have this and has no problem on the LAN or connecting to the
internet. Both computers run WinXP Home. Any help will be appreciated.
