Canon Lide 80 photo scans are noisy

Default Canon Lide 80 photo scans are noisy


Just purchased a Canon Lide 80 only to discover the print scans
introduce white snow noise to the scans. I tried moving the scanner as
far from the CPU as the USB cable allows, but still get snowy scans.
They really show up when you use the unsharp mask on the pics. Anyone
else experience this?
