Default Nikon LS-9000 issue?

Just came across this user's findings:

I have no way of verifying whether this is an isolated case, but
thought it worthwhile enough to share. For all I know it may be heat
induced film curl related, but it might also be something else.

But if it's film curl, the AF should provide at least a sharp region around
the AF point, isn't it?
Nikons always had very limited DOF, but this is a strange case. The user
says he didn't have the problem with the previous LS8000.
I hope more details will be given... I was wondering about a LS9000 purchase
myself.

Thanks for the head-up!

Fernando

As the scan is in progress, the film can change shape due to heating
up/drying out.

Indeed, I never heard of something this reproducible (with one user).
Maybe it's an isolated case of optical misalignment.

Or, maybe it's a case that the OP has the scanner installed
inside a piece of furniture, where there is absolutely NO
air circulation, and it actually is heating up excessively.
