Default LCMS profile - highlight NOISE and colour cast - need advice!!

Hope somebody is in the position to be able to help me.

There are two versions of the scannerprofiler in the LCMS package. The
newest version was made due to complaints about colour cast when the
old version was used to generate profiles.

I have problems with both of them:

With the newest version I get HORRIBLE noise in the Dmin (GS0) patch
and in the highlight patches on the top row of the IT8 target (after
applying the generated profile to the IT8 target scan). The profile is
completely UNUSABLE because of this.

With the old version I get a blue colour cast (e.g. GS11 turns out to
have excess blue according to the RGB values - using the eyedropper).
However, the highlight patches (incl GS0) are MUCH CLEANER.

I'm using Vuescan, 16-bit. Converting to bmp in IrfanView before
taking the scan into LCMS. Scanner is Minolta Scan Elite II.

Anyone who could give some clues..?

thanks a lot!!
