I've been running with this scanner just fine since I got it and installed
it (running WinXP Pro). I recently set up a new partition to re-build my setup (I do it once or twice a year). For some ungodly reason, I simply can't get the damned TWAIN driver to be recognized. I downloaded the latest driver file (CanoScan_N670U_v7010.exe) and installed it, apparently with no problems. There was no indication of successful installation, it just finished. The scanner was successfully recognized when I plugged the USB cable in. It shows up in Device Manager as "working properly". However, when I try to install the Software (ScanGear CS-U, etc.), it tell me that the TWAIN driver isn't installed. Any ideas? -- Regards, Hank Arnold |

Thanks. I finally got it to work. The instructions kept telling me to insert
the "CanoScan Setup Utility CD-ROM" and all I had was the "Software Solution" CD. I figured I had lost the CD and was trying to manually download and install the drivers. When I finally browsed the CD I had, it had what looked like install files (*.inf), so I just followed instructions and inserted the CD I had. Worked first time after that.... - Regards, Hank Arnold "CSM1" <nomoremail@nomail.com> wrote in message news:OB4_b.1751$HJ6.736@newssvr22.news.prodigy.com... > "Hank Arnold" <rasilon@aol.com> wrote in message > news:wl0_b.42797$ac.8368292@news4.srv.hcvlny.cv.net... > > I've been running with this scanner just fine since I got it and installed > > it (running WinXP Pro). I've got a similar problem with my CanoScan N1220U. Device manager
lists it as an unknown device. The TWAIN driver is not recognized so the software suggests I install the driver before proceeding. I've tried installing the .inf file from the CD, unsuccessful. I've tried installing from the C:\temp\CanoScan........ file per instructions found on CD. Nothing seems to work. I'm really at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
