ScanWise Won't Load

HELP!

I'm using an AGFA SnapScan e20 USB flatbed scanner, and I haven't used it
for a few months. I tried to use it yesterday, and the ScanWise Software
that runs the scanner won't load. I've un-installed the software and
re-installed three times. It's version 2.0.0.9 of the ScanWise software.

The sofware application begins to load, and the scanner "eye" moves back and
forth like it's initializing properly, but then the software just freezes at
the "Preparing the Scanner" stage and never finishes loading completely.

Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this? I'm running Win2K Pro,
btw.
