Default speed difference with usb 2?

I have a canon scanner that is usb connect (and powered). I use it with my
laptop which has usb1. It works, but I'm just curious if there is a lot of
speed difference going to usb 2. I hate to buy a usb2 card and find very
little difference.

Unless you are doing very high rez scanning that generates very large
files, you are unlikely to see much diff.
Is the scanner pausing during a scan? If not, it's probably not
saturating the 1.1 bus.
And, of course, is the scanner USB2 capable?
